Documentation

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of how to manage files/folders on your computer.  Realistically if you do not understand installation steps #1 or #2, then you are probably better off sticking with your default UI.

  • Widescreen-capable video card and monitor, with native resolution of 1920x1200 or 1680x1050.  This is a hard requirement, no other resolution will function correctly.

  • Your computer should easily meet the minimum requirements for WoW.  As efficient as MaelosUI is, WoW addons increase the resource intensiveness of the game, in return for more data at your disposal.

  • Read the instructions carefully.  If you are absolutely certain you have done so, please make sure to post your issue in the forums section of Maelos.com.

  • Note: Since R93, there is no need to rename server or character folders, as the installation process has been simplified.

Installation

Installation of the compilation is simple.  Please follow the instructions below carefully:
  1. Browse to your World of Warcraft installation folder.  This is usually C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft.

  2. Make backup copies of your Interface and WTF folders.  Doing so will allow you to revert back to your previous setup should you decide not to use the compilation.

  3. Rename your Interface and WTF folders.  For example, rename Interface to Interface.orig and WTF to WTF.orig.
  4. Unzip the MaelosUI package which contains an Interface and WTF folder.

  5. Copy the MaelosUI Interface and WTF folders into your World of Warcraft installation folder.

  6. Open the WTF folder and go into the Account folder. Steps 7-10 are extremely important to do correctly, otherwise none of the default configuration settings provided by MaelosUI will be applied.

  7. Rename YOURACCOUNTNAME to the name of your account (i.e. login name), this must be in ALL CAPS.  Please note, this is your WoW account name, NOT Battle.net.  Once renamed, open the folder.

  8. Launch World of Warcraft, login to your account.  Your video, sound and client settings have all been reset, this is expected.

  9. Before logging in, select Video and set your resolution to 1920x1200 or 1680x1050.  If your screen is not capable of these resolutions, then you should revert back to your original UI, as these two resolutions are the only ones which are supported.

  10. At the character selection screen, click on the addons button and validate that "Load Out of Date Addons" is check marked. (Don't, all addons are tested, I did not want to artificially increment version numbers).

  11. Select your character and enter the game.

  12. Type /reloadui one final time to make sure the default settings are all properly initialized.

  13. Verify the UI was correctly imported.  If it was, you should see your gold tally in the upper left corner and clock on the right.  Basically your UI should look similar to what you see in the Screenshots section of the Maelos.com website.  If it does not similar to the screenshots, you have made a mistake and should return to step #4.

  14. Go to the Main Menu (press ESC), click on Interface Options, Advanced Options and uncheck Always Show ActionBars.

If your UI still does not look like the screenshots or videos, verify that you have read and followed every step mentioned here.  Try repeating the process at least once more before posting for help on the forums.
